Interested in Learning Online?

CARE is continually developing online courses to be run completely digitally which you can enroll upon and complete from the comfort of your own home! These courses are free and funded by Staffordshire Community Learning.

Current online and face to face courses open for enrollment:

⭐️  Gardening, Woodcraft & Recycling (11/04/2024 – 13/06/2024)

This course begins on Thursday 11th of April at our lovely project in Penkridge. The course will introduce you to, and help you feel more confident in gardening, wood working, recycling and the environment. Complete design and build garden projects as part of a team with other learners too.

Topics will include designing & building, using recycled / up cycled materials, selecting and using tools, small scale planting & propagation, eco friendly gardening, encourage wildlife into your garden, how to protect the environment and much more!

The course has a focus on improving your maths skills, English skills, digital skills, well-being, personal development, problem solving and learning new practical skills. On the course you will get involved in team activities and get to take part in practical exercises.

The course runs weekly on a Thursday, completely free and transport is provided for those who need it from two pick up locations (Stafford & Cannock).

⭐️  Four Seasons Wellbeing (Course 1 22/04 – 03/06) (Course 2 10/06 – 29/07)

These courses will introduce you to some lovely seasonal countryside activities to support your wellbeing – animal care, art, crafting, gardening in containers, herb & veggie beds, caring for wildlife, cookery with produce grown in our CARE garden and so much more! You will use resources from nature. and learn how to upcycle some of your own too!

The courses run weekly on a Monday, completely free and transport is provided for those who need it from two pick up locations (Stafford & Cannock)

⭐️ Nature Does Number (Dates on Request)

These courses provide an opportunity for you to use everyday maths in a range of positive bite-sized activities, rooted in nature – animal care, gardening, woodcraft and cookery.

The courses run for 4 weeks on a Tuesday, based at our Rural CARE Project. Dates on request, please contact us.

⭐️ Free Family Course – Pathways To Nature, Wildlife And The Outdoors (Course dates below)

This course will introduce you to container and wildlife gardening, help improve your wellbeing, and learn new skills and techniques that you can share together as a family and with friends! Explore your creativity with outdoor projects that take inspiration from nature and cultures around the world. This blended learning course is delivered face-to-face and online.

Several courses available, most are 4 weeks in length, with weekly Saturday sessions:

  1. Course 1 – Sat’s 13/04 – 04/05 – Join us at our rural project in Penkridge 10am-1pm plus some online learning
  2. Course 2 – Sat’s 11/05 – 01/06 – Join us at our rural project in Penkridge 10am-1pm plus some online learning
  3. Course 3 – Sat’s 08/06 – 29/06 – Join us at our rural project in Penkridge 10am-1pm plus some online learning
  4. Course 4 – Sat’s 06/07 – 26/07 – Join us at our rural project in Penkridge 10am-1pm plus some online learning
  5. Course 5 – May Half Term 27/05 – 31/05 – Join us at our rural project in Penkridge 10am – 1pm for 3 days, plus online learning making a week of fun this half term.

Online Courses With CARE!

Alongside our face to face courses we also run a great range of online courses throughout the year. All the course’s are free and for Staffordshire residents aged 19+ who are experiencing or recovering from mental ill health or people who have a learning difficulty or unemployed and want to support their wellbeing. ⭐️  Art For Wellbeing – Journeys Outdoor With Art – Part 2 (24/04/24 – 29/05/24)

Join us on a virtual adventure around Staffordshire, watching us explore different locations to find inspiration for art all while improving your wellbeing and learning new skills. Brilliant for beginners and improvers alike. This course is a follow on from Part 1 but it is also an independent course so it is not necessary to have done the previous course.

We use traditional art mediums such as watercolours to capture scenery, pencils to sketch urban art and inks. But excitingly we also explore alternative art and visit some fabulous locations.

The sessions run weekly on a Wednesday starting on the 24th of April at 10am running until the 29th of May via our private Facebook page and online learning blog. The learning hours required to complete the course are flexible and can be covered to suit you during that week, ideal if you work and want to complete the sessions later in the evening.

⭐️  Discovering Art – Step By Step Journeys With Sketchbook, Pencil And Watercolour  (12/06/24 – 17/07/24)

A great free online course introducing you to some sketching skills and techniques exploring your creativity. Supported by a local professional artist this is a great course to learn new skills and improve your confidence with art! 

The sessions run weekly on a Wednesday starting on the 12th of June at 10am running until the 17th of July via our private Facebook page and online learning blog. The learning hours required to complete the course are flexible and can be covered to suit you during that week, ideal if you work and want to complete the sessions later in the evening.
